The heart of every home
Once you’ve met Nandi, and tasted what comes out of her kitchen, you’ll understand why we can’t imagine Thalassa without her.
After more than twenty years in Pakistan helping raise Irfan’s family, Nandi returned to Sri Lanka when Thalassa was still just a patch of jungle and an idea, and oversaw the build. She’s been a Thalassa stalwart ever since.
Her cooking is part Sri Lankan, part Northern Indian, and entirely unforgettable. Her pakoras are dangerously good, her appam utterly addictive. A very real risk of a week or two at Thalassa is that your trousers may feel noticeably snugger on departure – don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Not sure where to start? We’ve put together a week-long menu of our absolutely scrumptious favourites, the ones we dream about when we’re far from Thalassa.
They’re in no particular order, you can mix, match, and swap as you like. And if you end up wanting pakoras & sambol on daily repeat… well, you’ll be in very good company!
As a home, not a restaurant, we can’t offer à la carte for every guest, but most dietary needs can be easily handled with a little pre-planning. The team are all parents themselves, and so well understand the need for an earlier supper time for kids – even the tiniest food critic is normally won over by Nandi’s home-made fish fingers and chips!
